We moved to beautiful Tennessee in Summer 1999 after living our whole lives in Southern California.
Wanting to experience the local culture we attended the annual antique tractor
show in Cookeville where we saw alpacas for the first time, and it was instant love.
The Adventure Begins...
We Contacted AOBA(Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association) and received a Farm and Ranch catalog.
Philosophy on Showing...
We have great respect for those that spend all the time, effort, and hard work to promote their animals and farms in the show ring. For us however, who are still working on the outside, the undue stress it put on us and our animals was not something we wanted to continue for the moment. We made the decision to attend local shows which are low key and very fun, participate in hand spinners and fleece competitions which we do well in and let our beautiful alpacas speak for themselves in the pasture.
We then started visiting farms, researching, and did lots of praying. What we found was an industry with limitless possibilities and a place for everyone. We had been seeking an at home business for many years and we knew we had finally found it.
Purchased our first four bred females in September 2003 and our hearts have been full of gratitude every day for being introduced to these lovely animals.
As of now we have 43 alpacas and 2 guard llamas. I always say you don’t know what you don’t know and we could write volumes on what we have learned the last four years and with each article, workshop, conversation and day spent with our alpacas, we gain a little more knowledge to use and pass along.
Our Goal...
To be successful, of course, and to improve in every aspect of our business with each passing year. But maybe even more importantly, to guide those like us to a wonderful lifestyle to be enjoyed each and every day. That we be honest and good to our clients always, and to be readily available when a need arises and rejoice in your every victory. Years down the road may we look back and see a legacy of love and friendship.
The Journey Continues...
Are Alpacas For You? Only you can answer that question. Come by, look at alpacas, sit, have a cup of coffee, and we’ll talk about it.
